Induction Technology

Induction lighting is a high frequency (HF) light source utilizing the same basic principle as standard fluorescent lighting for converting electrical power into visible radiation or light. The critical difference between standard fluorescent and Crystal Lighting’s Induction System is Induction utilizes Wireless Electromagnetic Energy to charge the proprietary gas mix inside the tube rather than an electrode filament that can burn out.

Without electrodes the system life is limited more by the ruggedness of the Electronic Ballast components than the lamp. System life is extended to 100,000 hours.

Crystal Lighting Electronic ballasts have met stringent DOD Electronic Circuit System Component requirements and have received a 20 year life rating by the Dept of Defense.

Crystal Lighting Electronic ballasts passed all safety tests so as NOT to interfere with any wavelength of ANY other Electronic Equipment.

We conservatively warranty the Crystal Lighting Induction System for 10 (TEN) years even operating 24/7. Estimated life on a 12 hour burn is 20 years.

Many induction lighting systems that have been out in the field have been operating flawlessly in excess of 15 years as has the technology that Crystal Lighting Induction system is based on.

ALL INDUCTION SYSTEMS

ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL!

There are numerous Induction Lighting Technology Platforms available on the market today that have a wide range of efficiencies, cost and reliability.

Crystal Lighting products have the:

  • Highest Lumen per watt rating in the industry

  • Highest Lumen Maintenance industry rating

  • Warranty - TEN YEARS BALLAST & LAMP

  • NEMA, UL, DOD, ARRA, & Buy American Compliant

  • Proprietary IC Chip Auto Protect / Reset Technology

  • NO EMI or RF interference issues

  • Widest range of wattages available

(15, 23, 40, 65, 80, 100, 120, 150, 200, 250 & 300)

OTHER Induction technology platforms have a wide range of lumen per watt efficiency ratings (60 to 85) LOWER OR LIMITED warranties, EMI radio frequency issues and lumen maintenance characteristics, that are dramatically inferior to Crystal Lighting Induction.

These include External as well as VARIOUS other Internal Induction Electromagnetic Platforms where either the Electronics are inferior and do not provide system protection and high efficiency, poorly constructed and unevenly coated lamps.

Larger size lamps, none dedicated ballasts (one ballast for multiple wattages which lowers efficiency and life rating)

Internal Induction Systems are inherently less efficient because they trap heat from the magnets INSIDE the lamp lowering efficiency, lamp and ballast life ratings as well as less flexibility in design and range of lamp wattage.

Other induction systems operate @ 2.65 KHz which creates EMI interference issues. Crystal Lighting Induction External Induction Systems eliminate ALL THESE ISSUES and provide longer life, superior performance and highest efficiency ratings in the industry.

The designed operating frequency for Crystal Lighting External Induction Systems is 250 kHz, which is not governed by or interferes with the radio frequencies allocated for industrial applications such as 2.65, 13.56, 27.12 and 40.68 MHz.

There are no interference issues with telecommunications, computers or sensitive medical equipment which was also part of the Dept of Defense rating for use near sensitive military electronics.

The decrease in working frequency eliminates EMI problems, ballast complexity, and cost as compared to other induction lamps working at 2.65 MHz such as in Internal Coil systems.

Crystal Lighting External Coil Induction lighting system lamps are a 54 mm diameter tube encircled by two closed ferrite cores.

Due to the closed magnetic path of the ferrite cores, the power-transfer efficiency and efficacy of this lamp are extremely high; they are .99 and 95 lm/W respectively in Crystal Lighting Induction External Induction Coil Systems

The lamp wattages available in Crystal Lighting External Induction Fixtures are:

15W, 23W 40W, 65W, 80W, 100W, 120W, 150W, 200W, 250w and 300W at an efficacy of 95 lumens per watt or 157 pupil lumens per watt.

Fixtures can be manufactured up to 400 watts in a single package and in some cases 500 watts.

The rated life of the Crystal Lighting Induction External Induction Coil Systems is 100,000 hours, which is determined by the life of electronic ballast but not the lamp.

By using proprietary IC Circuit Protection with Auto Reset functions against voltage fluctuations, power spikes, surges and other power anomalies we can provide extremely stable long life even over other Induction Technology platforms.

Our IC technology also constantly evaluates and moderates

Input current to maintain stable light levels in the event of power fluctuations.

The high system efficiency is achieved by the distributed power deposition along the lamp in contrast with the Internal cavity induction lamp where power transfer is localized around the coupling induction coil, causing local thermal stress and overheating that limits
maximum lamp power.

Crystal Lighting Induction also incorporates extremely high quality phosphor coating techniques that ensure even distribution of phosphors for extended lamp life, minimal lumen loss and highest Lumen per watt ratio’s in the industry today.

Other Induction systems standard ratings run 75 to 85 Lumens per watt where as Crystal Lighting operate at up to 95 Lumens per watt for 100,000 hours at wattages ranging from 40 to 300 watts.

When converting from HPS, Mercury Vapor or Metal Halide HID systems energy savings of 33 to 60% are achieved while equating and improving light levels.
